Design and display
Xiaomi has given a major design update to the new Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 8 series. They have got over iPhone designs and bring something new, which is likable. Also, it now feels a bit premium in hands and they have given attention to the smallest of details this time.
The Xiaomi Redmi 8 is available in three color variants – Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue, and Ruby Red. The back panel is glossy and has some cheeky gradients. Keeping it aside, this phone is not slippery at all. Yes, it is a fingerprint magnet and you might have to use case for it. The edges are curved beautifully to give you a perfect feel when you hold it. There are two cameras and a fingerprint sensor on the rear in a black vertical strip down the middle. This chip has four ARM Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 1.45GHz and another four at 1.95GHz. The chipset is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which is its base variant. There is another option with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. there is no doubt that this is a good phone when it comes to handling tasks. But, it falls a little short in showing its prowess in this market space when you get to see many devices with a lower price tag having stronger chips.

Cameras
The Redmi 8A packs a dual-camera setup on the back including a 12-megapixel f/1.8 primary rear cameras and a depth sensor. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel f/2 front camera. During the day, the photos clicked were hit-or-miss most of the time. At times, you get to capture some stunning shots but others, you feel disappointed with dull and blurry results. The depth-sensor added some of its striking abilities to complement the primary camera but the results didn’t come out to be groundbreaking. With the Redmi 8, Xiaomi has disappointed us by stepping down in performance instead of stepping up its game. Yes, the quality of life has gone all up but performance doesn’t trade it off. It is certainly a beautiful phone with a high-capacity battery, decent cameras, and aesthetics.
